Additional performers have been announced for the annual Broadway Backwards concert — featuring male singers performing songs traditionally sung by women and women singing tunes written for men — which will be presented Feb. 22 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Stage and screen star Florence Henderson — best known for her role as TV mom Carol Brady on “The Brady Bunch” — will host the concert.
Newly added performers to the evening include Tituss Burgess (Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid), Mario Cantone (”Sex and the City,” Laugh Whore), Raul Esparza (Speed-the-Plow, Company), Becki Newton (ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” Girl Crazy at Encores!) and Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins (Caroline, or Change; Jelly’s Last Jam).
These artists join the previously announced Gary Beach, Len Cariou, Tony Goldwyn, Aaron Lazar, Michele Lee and Julia Murney. Co-creator Robert Bartley will direct with musical direction by Wayne Barker. The upcoming concert will benefit both Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and New York’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Community Center.
